What causes Siddhartha to suffer so much over his son?

Siddhartha suffers because he feels his son has lead such a wealthy life and is enslaved by desire. Although Siddhartha wants to protect his son from pain and suffering, he knows that wisdom demands that his son feel these things to evolve.
