Gawain does fullfil the Green Knight's challenge. He presents his head to be chopped off. Because Gawain did not honestly exchange all of his winnings on the third day, Bertilak does draw blood on his third blow. Still, Gawain presents himself as a worthy knight and the Green Knight is satisfied.
