What is a common theme of weaponry between "Gawain and the Green Knight" and "Le Morte D'Arthur"?

Is there a similar theme involving weaponry in these rwo works? What are some examples of weaponry and why is it important? What does it have in common with the other weapons?

This takes a pretty specialized answer. I could state the obvious (shields, crests, swords...) but I think there is much more to this. I think the weapons in the two stories are very similar. Check out this link below:
