Who is the third to volunteer to take the green knight's challenge?

I believe the only two men to step up to the challenge the Green Knight has put forth were King Arthur...... who Gawain immediately stepped in for. I don't remember a third, and I ahven't been able to find anything to support it, but I'll keep looking.
