Inej leaves because she doesn't think that Kaz can ever love her enough..... love her equally as much as she loves him. Kaz appalls physical touch and having someone physically close to him. In a relationship, this would be a difficult barrier to set aside. Inej says, 'Well he doesn't love me enough then.' And maybe he doesn't..... but I think he will prove both Inej and himself wrong. What do you think?

Personally, I felt that they were too young in the books to stay and grow their relationships. It hasn't even been a decade since the incident of both of their origins of trauma. So maybe some time apart, where in Inej goes around the world, getting into the groove of trying to fulfilling her aim and Kaz trying to figure out what is next for him, looks very ideal to me. It'll be good for both of them.
