Author's argument in favor of traditional schooling not homeschooling
The author only provides one argument in favor of formal schools: Because homeschoolers learn in solitude, they lack social skills. In Chapter 29, Michael accuses Mina of being so high up in her own spheres that she does not know anything about "ordinary people" like his friends at school.
