The images that Guitar keeps seeing over and over again are those of oppression. Everything he sees has shades of racial conflict, and his sympathies lie with those of the African Americans. Guitar's father's death came as a result of negligence in the factory where he worked; it was a white man's factory, and therefore the white man's fault. Guitar sees the white man's hand in all things that are bad; he looks for those things; thus, he sees tht oppression everywhere.
