Describe three things that go wrong for melinda on her first day of high school.

1) She is the first to board the school bus and ignored by everyone else. Thus, she is not only the first to board but the last to exit.

2) Melinda has no one to sit with at lunch, and just as she's ready to go and sit with Heather (the new girl from Ohio) one of the basketball players spills potatoes all over her.

3) Mr. Neck gives her a demerit because she tries to leave the lunchroom.
