Melinda believes the valentine is from David.... her lab partner. The valentine is actually from Heather, who also returns the friendship necklace Melinda gave her around Christmas. Heather is actually thanking her for taking the end of their friendship so well. Melinda is very hurt and retires to her closet to cry.
