What is the school mascot ? Why does the school go through more than one change of mascot before settling on the final choice of name ? Be sure to tell what Melinda means by the term " political correctness " .

Merryweather’s mascot, due to complaints of lewdness, has just changed from the Trojans to the Devils. This represents situational irony. Melinda thinks the political correctness, doing what "progressive" society demands, is bizarre and darkly humorous.
