what happen to melinda during ''dead frogs''?

THe biology class is dissecting a frog. The dead frog is pinned down and Melinda is supposed to cut it open. Melinda has a flashback of her assault, she could "feel the cut, smell the dirt, leaves in [her] hair." Melinda ha a panic attack and passes out.
