In what way did Dr. King’s death change the Black Power movement?

I think that Dr. King brought the American Civil Rights movement to the masses around the world. He made it clear that peaceful (passive) resistance was going to be instituted until meaningful change happens. People from all backgrounds could understand King's message and it was difficult to argue against it.
