Survival in Auschwitz

What does Levi's task of writing a memoir of this experience?

Referring to the Nazi treatment of the prisoners, Levi writes that "our language lacks words to express this offense, the demolition of man."  What does this remark imply in Levi's task of writing a meoir of this experience.

Levi believes that the only way he can help to illuminate and rebuild is through storytelling. He writes his story even though he himself says that his words are inadequate in his description. None-the-less, he needs to attempt to make people understand the reality of the demolition of man.
