4. How would you describe the character of The Vengeance? Does she seem like a real person to you? What, do you think, is the reason Dickens does not give her real name?

The Vengeance is an idea..... a symbol of the revolutionaries. Vengeance also symbolizes the uncivilized and barbaric actions by the revolutionaries. It symbolized the lengths they'd go to attain a means to their end. Dickens doesn't give Vengeance a name because it isn't a person.... it's an ideal.
