How does Jerry cruncher apparently dispose of his windfall income?

I agree, I do not see a direct answer to this quote in Chapter Fourteen of the novel. My best guess would be that the windfall is spent on food and beer. That's the only thing Cruncher mentions when arguing with his wife. I will look further and see if I can find something more concrete for you in another chapter.
