what does Mrs cruncher think of her husbands occupation?

Mrs. Cruncher's "flopping" is evidence that her husband's occupation of grave robbing is very disturbing to her. As a result, she prays for Jerry's soul which he sees as her attempt to pray against him and make him unsuccessful thus taking food out of the mouth of their child.

Mr. Cruncher is a "resurrection man" which means that he digs up dead bodies and sells the parts for science. Mrs. Cruncher is a religious woman who believes in the sanctity of the dead. She obviously dislikes what her husband is doing. She frequently prays and Mr. Cruncher berates her for "flopping" which is his negative euphemism for praying.
