Describe the metaphore Mr Donnelly uses in his article enttitled " Thoughts on an Imaginary Porcelain Plate."What is his point in the article?

Mr. Donnelly was referring to his porcelain plate football trophy and how his record was broken by Antoine Thomas. Just because Thomas was not in the right district, his amazing record was dismissed. Donnelley used the metaphor of his shattered record, his broken plate, being glued together and handed back to him. Thomas record should still stand.
