I think that you can juxtapose Erik (evil) and Paul (good). It is pretty safe to say that Erik is a certified sociopath. He is a person who enjoys inflicting pain and humiliation on other people. Eric blinded Paul as a joke when Paul was in kindergarten. By comparison Paul is an empathetic individual who will help others like when Paul wants to go help the Cruz family save their tangerines.
