What are the similarities and differences between Paul and his mother Mrs.Fisher?

I don't see many similarities between the two: only differences. Paul's mother is all about appearances. She likes the big house with the perfect lawn. Paul is not interested in superficial appearances. Paul is loyal to the people he likes. Paul's mother cannot even be loyal to her own son Paul. She lies to him about how he became blind. She also protects and enables her sociopathic son Erik.

Mrs.Fisher and Paul is the same because they are both overprotective, paul is overprotective of his eye and mom is over protective about those kids playing in the thunder storm, pages 30,38...
