What positive and negative impacts did Erik and Mike have on Paul?

Mike was a good football player and a good sport. Paul actually looked up to mike as the sort of player he would want to be. Erik had no positive influence on Paul except as a reminder of everything he does not want to be. Paul's brother is a sociopath who blinded Paul when he was a child. Erik continues with his sadistic behavior throughout the book.
