I would disagree here. The tragedy was her father's fault in being a drunken fool and selling his daughter off for an imagined inheritance. It is Alec's fault for being a super creep and raping Tess. It is Angel's fault for not understanding Tess's incredible pain. In a larger context it is the class system's fault for giving Tess no power and little choice in how she might lead her life
