When we first meet M&M, he is thirteen and toying with the idea of becoming a hippie. He is described as smart, honest, sensitive and innocent, and he is nicknamed for the candy he is obsessed with. M&M is the object of a lot of bullying in his community, and he is having a hard time with his parents. Although, he isn't interested in gangs or violence, M&M does begin taking drugs, and his drug use, in addition to his father nagging him about his long hair and poor grades, leads him to run away. After running away, M&M finds himself living in a drug house, where he eventually overdoses on LSD. Thankfully, he is taken to the hospital on time, and his life is saved. He is also reunited with his family, though, mentally M&M is never the same.
