Cassie's mother died after contracting the 3rd Wave virus. Commander Vosch killed her father after he was interred in a refugee camp.

Cassie's mother died of the 3rd Wave, which was the pestilence, and Cassie's father was shot and killed by Commander Alexander Vosch (who's bad).

Mrs. Sullivan got the virus and then she died. Mr. Sullivan was killed by Commander Vosch.
