Based on what you have read between this novel, yesterday’s video and the “Superman and Me” essay from last week, what is your impression of Sherman Alexie?
I don't know what video you saw. Alexie's Superman essay and Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian have a lot in common. Young Alexie and Arnold Spirit pretty much sound like the same kid. Both love books, love their father, have a quirky sense of humor, and express themselves with the same sincerity. Comic books are a way of expression for Alexie and he is able to find his voice through comic pictures and a sincerity that readers gravitate towards.
