The end of the novel finds Junior as having become a responsible, forward thinking, young man. He abstains from alcohol, takes a good look at his two lives, and decides that he wants more than the reservation. Junior knows that his future lays beyond the reservation, and that he has to embrace the opportunities he's been given..... opportunities rarely seen by his peers on the reservation. Junior misses his best friend, but he also knows their paths are different.
