Junior gives us pragmatic reasons of how and why he lives in two worlds. Junior tells us that if he wants any hope, he has to go to white school in Rearden. Junior's roots, and his best friend, remain in wellpinit but his future is in Rearden. Junior talks about how he needs to adapt to white school and how he already is smarter than most kids there. At the same time Junior knows the unwritten rules of the Rez and how to survive there.
