Mr.P is white yet he reflects life of being on a reserve. Explain?

Mr. P, like many people on the reserve seems like a broken man. He seems to be just going through the motions of teaching but his heart is not in it. He frequently shows up to class in his pajamas. Mr. P has a lot of guilt. Like any others on the reserve, he simply exists without dreams or goals.
