Why does Junior's decision to change schools anger Rowdy? Why is Rowdy angry instead of sad?

Rowdy loves Junior: he is Rowdy's only friend in the world. Rowdy will be isolated when Junior leaves. Rowdy's first response to most emotions is anger and vilolence. Rowdy certainly is sad but it is clouded in his anger.
