Chapters 24 - 25

Huck has become more critical of the duke and the king than he was in preceding chapters. Why has this change taken place in his character? Explain Huck's moral development as it relates to previous chapters in the novel. Cite examples from the novel to support your argument.

As Huck matures, he comes to see the Duke and the King in a different light. They aren't merely conmen..... he now sees their actions as "disgusting". Huck considers the pair's manipulation of the girls as inexcusable. Huck remarks that their pretense (pretending to be the girls' uncles) makes him "ashamed of the human race."
