Twain's writings were directly affected by him growing up in Hannibal.
Twain wrote about himself and his own experiences by using the Mississippi setting in which he lived, and the characters who surrounded him during his youth. He also embellished the pairs adventures by using situation he'd envisions, situation inspired by the adventure novels he loved.
