Huck develops his own value system that is separate from the Southern Status Quo. Although he feels odd for helping an escaped black slave, Jim, he senses Jim's humanity. Huck and Jim are kindred spirits and Huck follows his instincts. Huck does the right thing when he feels for people. He thwarts the KIng and Duke's schemes to rob the daughters of the Grangerford's.Huck is really treats people well according to their own conduct rather than their skin colour or station in life.
