how does huck meet jim on jacksons island? why is jim there?

While looking for food, Huck finds a smoking campfire. After some searching, Huck finds Jim. Jim has run away from Miss Watson because she was going to sell him to someone from New Orleans. He didn't want to be separated from his family under a master far away.
