Huck and Jim are both aware that the two men are con artists. As for predictions, Huck is going to go along with the men's schemes because he's afraid to do anyhting else. He says, "I learnt that the best way to get along with his kind of people is to let them have their own way." Thus, Huck and Jim realize that rather then stir up trouble with either of the men, it is best to play along and pretend they have been duped.

I think they are going to get sucked into something that they don't want to. The Duke and King are Con artists who hurt people financially and emotionally. Huck and Jim are not out to use or hurt anybody. There is malice in the Duke and King which Huck and Jim don't share. Both men begin by conning each other and then decide they can team up and con the world, "Old man," said the young one, "I reckon we might double-team it together; what do you think?" Huck and Jim simply are not like this yet are stuck with these two guys. The King and Duke can be dangerous if Huck and Jim refuse them.

The handbills might get Jim into trouble.
