What does Pap complain about and does this make Mark Twain racist or is he just providing social commentary about racism? Explain your answer.

Pap drunkenly curses everything from the government to blacks. Pap's tirade is racist but, like much of the book, I think twain is critiquing the reality of the times. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn has to be viewed through the lens of the time period it was set in. The offensive language is important because it shapes our understanding of the realities most blacks faced in the American South.
