Which character do you think twain wants readers to prefer, huck or Tom? Give reasons.

Huck has evolved far greater than Tom. Where Tom is playing his old childish adventure games, Huck is sincerely worried about his friend Jim. Huck has matured into a self-realized young man who truly lives by his own code of goodness and common sense. Tom really hasn't evolved as a character.He remains static and still reflection of the Southern ideology that Huck has let go of.
