Why does hick feel guilty no matter what he does about Jim? How do you think the author mark twain, wants readers to view hucks struggle and his ultimate decision?

One of the main themes of this novel is Huck's struggle to move past the demands of society (that he turn Jim in), or to follow his feelings and help him. Huck feels guilty when he flouts convention and goes against the dictations of the society he lives in, but he does eventually go with his gutt instinct and his heart. His ultimate decision is based on loyalty to his friend and doing the right thing.
