Aunt Polly is Tom’s aunt and guardian. She is a simple and kind-hearted woman who really tries to raise Tom as an upstanding citizen. She is frequently dismayed at Tom's wild and adventurous nature. She really tries to guide Tom, in what she feels, to a life as a gentleman.
