How does Mark Twain depict education?

School and an education aren't of extreme importance to the characters in this novel. We see far more learning going on through play, chores, and experience, than actual book learning. Tom shows up at school when he likes, and later in the novel, we find that Huck is pretty much ostracized because of his situation. School is portrayed as prison...... somewhere no one wants to be.
