Unlike Tom, Sid is studious, always on time, and goes out of his way to stay out of trouble.

Tom hates school (except for Becky), is perpetually in trouble, and is late for everything.

Tom is an adventurous person and prefers to spend most of his days outside house whereas Sid thinks adventures are waste of time and a perfect way to get in trouble, he prefers to be indoors and study.
