There are a number of complications in the novel's rising action. First and foremost is Dr. Robinson's murder.... and the fact the boys have witnessed said murder. Following the murder, we see Huck and Tom stage their own deaths and escape to Jackson Island. Later, Tom testifies at Muff's trial, which puts him in danger. Two other complications would be the sighting of Injun Joe, and Tom and Becky's time in the cave.
