Why did Tom, Huck and Joe run away to Jackson's island ?

Tom feels depressed because of Becky Thatcher's unrequited affection for him. Joe Harper is depressed because his mother punished him for throwing out some cream--a crime of which he is innocent. Huck doesn't want to go to school. All three boys think it would be great to go to the island and become pirates.
