Is Aeneas a jerk or a hero?

The tragedy of Princess Dido illustrates Aeneas' human side. He is the son of a god, and the gods repeatedly look out for him...... but he is also a human who makes mistakes. If we look at the entire story, however, it would be impossible not to see that Aeneas is a hero, even if his fate is sealed.
