Internal dangers? Internal conflicts would include the fear of failure, the fear of disappointing or hurting the people he loves, as well as the fear of what will happen once his dream is realized.
External dangers include being robbed, having his life hang in the balance with the chieftans at the oasis, as they wait to see if his information is correct, and being taken captive by one of the warring tribes.
