What is the literary structure of most of the stories? What kind of language do they use—colloquial, high, or both? What is the effect?

The Arabian Nights are filled with colloquialisms, which repeat themselves over and over again leaving the reader with a sense of, "I've been here before." Note, it's a sense of familiarity..... nothing more.
