The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin

What connections do you see between Franklins selcected virtues and his Puritan upbringing?

Which puritan values seem to be reflected by his choice? Does any of his virtues seem to be in conflict or tension with Puritan values?

Many of Franklin's virtues are a result of his Puritan upbringing. Likely, we should take note of those things the Puritans would look down upon, namely, drinking at all, and imitating Socrates. Puritans abstained from alcohol..... and they did not think to imitate anyone but Jesus.
