The Count of Monza squanders the family fortune and seduces a young woman before running away to become a pirate. He changes his name to Zampa, kidnaps a man names Lugano and demands ransom, and eventually married Lugano's daughter Camille. Zampa is also haunted by a statue Alice, whom he has wronged, and the statue has some very interesting, supernatural powers.
