from what point of view is the novel told? who is the narrator of the story? how do you know?

The point of view is 1st person told by Death. Yes it is an odd choice of narrator but considering the subject matter it makes sense. Death actually introduces himself as "Death". I just take it that "Death" is a "he" but who knows if death is gender specific.
