How are Germans and Jews different and alike?

The obvious is that they are both human beings but for some reasons the Nazis fail to grasp this simple concept. Aside from the socio-political history behind this we can safely say that they love their kids. It is interesting that both sides suffered a similar end in the form of devastation. Although the pain inflicted on Jews was well documented, the Nazis were hunted down and killed after the war. Death and destruction are the common elements here. It is difficult to understand the mindset of the average German during this period. Certainly there were people like the Hubermans and Liesel who shared their fate with many Jews. There were also many German's who blindly followed Nazi ideology.The usual explanations for this are difficult to comprehend. I really don't know what caused this massive cavern of humanity between both sides.
