Papa and Mama gave Liesel a used doll for her birthday...... it had a missing leg and yellow hair. Papa apologized and said it was the best they could do, whereas Mama said she was lucky to get anything. It's merely the difference between warm and cold personalities. Papa was warm and loving; Mama (for now) is cold and somewhat indifferent (or so we are led to believe).
