The Book Thief

How do the charactres in The Book Thief demonstrate the human capacity to overcome adversity?

A bit confused. My main example would be either Liesel and her abandonment, Rosa looking after a family and perhaps Max's struggle against Nazi Germany.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

I think different characters have different adversities. Certainly Liesel feels abandoned but quickly hinds more of a family in the Hubermans. All the main sympathetic characters struggle against the tyranny of the Nazis. With little money Rudy, the Hubermans, Liesel and Max all take risks to do their best against the sufferings inflicted upon them. Even Death, as a character, feels mournful at the utter carnage that he must contend with.
